The landscape gardens were originally designed by Getrude Jekyll and Sir Edwin Landseer Lutyens. Alongside the vision of pre-eminent garden designer, James Alexander Sinclair, & Lutyens expert Architect John Bradshaw LDC were appointed as the main landscape contractor to help restore and improve on the existing gardens.

Very much a restoration project, the objective was to recreate a timeless aesthetic and to appease planning regulation given the listed status of the property & gardens. Consequently, the central part of the build was salvaging bargate stone from the existing landscape. This was used to feed the build of a Lutyens inspired ‘thunder house’ and all newly constructed walls. A bargate pier pergola was also crafted to mimic a previous incarnation that had been designed by Getrude Jekyll.

The wider landscape also included the construction of a small lake , significant earthworks for a menage area and a significant tree planting scheme. Led by James all planting to formal beds were carried out by LDC.
