LGN Street Design Awards ”Best Green Urban Green Space” 2019 .

The peace garden is the trans formative landscape of the Muslim Burial Ground.  The site was the final resting place of 19 Muslim soldiers from the Great War and 8 from the Second World War, the restoration of the site to its former glory has created a lasting memorial to those soldiers killed in battle.

The design built by LDC is in an Islamic style garden utilising a reflective pool and rill at its heart to encourage careful contemplation. Surrounding the pool are a series of lawns and silver birch groves allowing the visitor to idle and enjoy the surrounds. Since its opening the garden has featured in the BBC Documentary Britain’s Muslims Soldiers.
